Workshops are designed to help docents and teachers by offering further training, organizational skills, and fun art activities. Leadership workshops are designed for School Coordinators. Skills workshops are for docents who want to learn more about using various art media and techniques that are taught in the Art in Action program. Workshops are open to docents and teachers at licensed Art in Action schools. Workshops are held at Art in Action, 3925 Bohannon Drive, Suite 300, Menlo Park, CA 94025 unless otherwise noted.

At this workshop you will learn about how to coordinate the Art in Action Program at your school. You will learn about new program features and online resources, including how to use current program technology. You will meet fellow Art in Action school coordinators and share ideas and success stories, as well as tips and tricks for inspiring volunteers, setting up art displays, and building the arts community at your school. You will hear about upcoming events and opportunities at Art in Action. Also available at your school site by special arrangement.
In this hands-on workshop you will learn a variety of clay techniques, including specific skills you will need to teach the clay lessons. Learn more about clay techniques, glazing, firing and clay storage. You will create the clay project you will be teaching and have fun exploring the use of clay to make your own creation.

This hands-on workshop for school art show curators and docents will help you design and produce an impressive art show for your school or a public venue. You will learn about promoting the show, getting volunteers to help set up the artwork, training student docents, and tips for mounting, labeling, and displaying student artwork. You will get ideas for creative and inexpensive ways to show off various projects and present impressive displays in the classroom, school office, public library displays, or your annual school art show. Join Judy Sleeth, Executive Director of Art in Action and experienced museum docent, at the Cantor Arts Center on the beautiful Stanford University campus. Judy will share ideas for making a museum visit exciting for a class or your own children. You will explore the museum, discovering sculptures and paintings that children like, and learn ways to engage students of all ages. You will get tips and suggested activities for animal hunts, posing as portraits, comparing cultures, and recognizing materials.
