Art Shows

Art in Action Art Shows exhibit student artwork in public venues, including schools, libraries and local businesses. Displaying student art in public places builds student pride and brings pleasure to the entire community. Thanks to the dedicated docents, teachers and school curators and librarians who make these Art Shows possible.

School Art Shows

Art in Action schools host end-of-the-year, school-wide Art Shows showcasing samples of student artwork from every child, displaying their talents and accomplishments. The entire school community enjoys seeing the children's work on display, and students and parents take pride in their achievements. Younger siblings look forward to the projects they will get to do the next year, and older students look back with fond memories at art lessons they remember.

Online pictures and guides for the annual Art Show are included in the special resource sections of our website for Art in Action schools. These examples illustrate how to organize and host an annual all-school art show, how to prepare art, and how to transform a multipurpose room or gym into a living museum! In addition, the Art in Action staff provides live support, suggestions, and tips for displaying student art in the school and community.

Summer Art Shows

Art in Action's annual Summer Art Show, “Celebrate Imagination,” features outstanding artwork created by students at Art in Action schools. Outstanding student works of art are displayed in public venues, including local libraries, during June and July. Art in Action hosts an Artist Reception for the opening of each show to honor the student artists, their principals, teachers, docents and families.

The Summer Art Show schedule for 2010 will be posted in the spring.

Library Art Shows

Art in Action partners with local public libraries to display student artwork during the school year. School Curators select and prepare a variety of art projects inspired by Art in Action lessons from each Program Level, highlighting different projects each month. Art in Action staff members work together with children's librarians to provide books and other resources aligned with the featured artists and masterpieces. Artwork is on display at local libraries from October through May.
