Art in Action Receives $50,000 Silicon Valley Community Foundation Grant
Art in Action, the Bay Area’s leading provider of Visual Art Programs, has been awarded a $50,000 two-year grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation to continue its enrichment of children’s lives through art. The grant will allow Art in Action to continue and extend its programming for children in low resource schools in San Mateo County.
“The generous support from Silicon Valley Community Foundation enables teachers and docents to bring quality visual arts lessons to students who otherwise would have little access to art,” reported Judy Sleeth, Executive Director of Art in Action. The support of Silicon Valley Community Foundation will enhance the education of many young students in our community, inspiring their vision and learning through art.
The Art in Action program is a sequential, California Standards-aligned visual arts curriculum based on great art masterpieces that teaches art history, art appreciation and art techniques. The Art in Action Program supports the school experience through integrating hands-on art projects that bring learning to life. Art in Action provides a Visual Arts Curriculum for K-8 grades, currently serving 18,000 students in over 65 schools.
