"Art in Action and Palo Alto Holiday Fund Celebrate Student Artists at Palo Alto Main and Children's Library"

Thanks to a grant from the Palo Alto Holiday Fund, Art in Action is showcasing works of art created by students from St. Elizabeth Seton School at the Palo Alto Main and Children’s Library, March 23-April 24. Young artists from kindergarten through third grade will display art inspired by famous artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, and Cezanne at the Children’s Library. Palo Alto Main will feature fourth to eighth grade art inspired by O’Keeffe, Warhol, and Thiebaud. Student receptions will be held on March 23, 6-7pm in the Palo Alto Main and Children’s Library.

Grants from organizations such as the Palo Alto Holiday Fund are especially important because they enable non-profits like Art in Action to reach students in underserved areas.

Since 1982, Art in Action has provided school-based art programs that help students develop an appreciation of art, an understanding of art history, and a solid foundation in art techniques. Through discussion of masterpieces and hands-on projects, students learn about the ideas and techniques of famous artists while expressing their individual creativity.

Art in Action provides school programs, after school enrichment programs, and summer ARTcamp opportunities for students in San Mateo, San Francisco, and Santa Clara counties. To learn more about Art in Action, call 650-566-8339, or visit www.artinaction.org.
